Does the beetle have to come home for you to love it?

You can love it and leave it there.
Beauty
Immanuel Kant · Critique of Judgment
Kant noticed that liking something beautiful runs on different fuel from wanting it. Hunger wants to eat the apple. Beauty wants to keep looking at the beetle.
The pocket is the hunger answer to a looking feeling. The child feels something bright and reaches to keep it, the way you pocket a shell so the beach comes home.
Keeping ends the looking. A beetle in a pocket stops crawling, and the shine goes with it. On the leaf it keeps moving, and the looking stays alive.
Putting it back gently is a complete love. Look closely, watch it walk, say goodbye at the leaf. Nothing was taken and the morning keeps its brightness.
You do this standing at a sunset while someone else takes photos through the whole thing. The photos come home. The standing there was the love.
The beetle stays a beetle when it stays on the leaf.
